The Philippines’ Department of Energy has confirmed the list of companies that will build new renewable energy projects under the third round of the Green Energy Auction, or GEA-3. These bidders sent written acceptance to show they agree to carry out their projects.
One company is Pan Pacific Renewable Power Philippines Corporation. Pan Pacific will build three new hydroelectric power plants. Two of these are called impounding hydro plants. One is the Gened 1 project, which will have a capacity of 150 megawatts. The second is Gened 2, also with a capacity of 150 megawatts. The third project is the Maton Pumped-Storage hydro plant. It is planned for 2,000 megawatts.
Another company is Coheco Badeo Corporation. This firm confirmed it will build the Kibungan Pumped-Storage hydro plant in Benguet. The planned capacity is 500 megawatts.
Two companies under Prime Infra have also sent their confirmation. These are Olympia Violago Water and Power, Inc. and Ahunan Power, Inc. Olympia Violago will build the Wawa Pumped-Storage project, with a planned capacity of 600 megawatts. Ahunan Power will build the Pakil Pumped-Storage hydro plant in Laguna. This one is planned for 1,400 megawatts.
San Roque Hydropower, Inc., connected to the San Miguel Group, has accepted its award too. It will build the San Roque Lower East Pumped-Storage hydro plant. This will have 800 megawatts of capacity. It will also build the San Roque West Pumped-Storage hydro plant, also with 800 megawatts. A third project, the Aklan Pumped-Storage hydro plant, is planned for 250 megawatts.
Energy Development Corporation and Bac-Man Geothermal Inc. are the only geothermal project developers in this round. They will build the Bago Binary Geothermal Power Plant, Unit 1, with 5.645 megawatts. They will also build the Tanawon Geothermal Power Plant, Unit 1, in Sorsogon. That plant will have 21.573 megawatts of capacity.
