Vanda RE Pte, a joint venture company majority-owned by Gurīn Energy Pte Ltd, has signed a framework supply agreement with Trinasolar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions. This partnership represents a major step forward in progressing Vanda RE’s renewable energy export project in Indonesia.

Under this agreement, Trinasolar will supply 1.2GW of its industry-leading Vertex N n-type i-TOPCon advanced technology based on the 210mm product technology platform.

Trinasolar’s n-type i-TOPCon module recently broke the world record for power output, reaching 740.6W in a lab setting. Testament to its reliability, high energy yield, outstanding performance and quality, Trinasolar has been awarded two of the top industry accolades – “2024 Overall Highest Achiever” in the annual PV Module Index (PVMI) by RETC and “Top Performer” by Kiwa PV Evolution Labs (Kiwa PVEL) for the tenth consecutive year.

The company announced 1.2 GW framework supply agreement will see Trinasolar’s solar PV modules deployed in Vanda RE’s utility-scale project in the Riau Islands, Indonesia. This is part of the Vanda Solar & Battery Project, underpinned by 2GW of solar PV installed capacity and 4.4GWh of battery storage, ranking it among the largest planned projects of its kind worldwide.

Once completed in 2027, the project will supply Singapore with 300MWh of non-intermittent, zero-emission electricity – enough energy to power 390,000 households in Singapore annually. Vanda RE’s project received conditional approval from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) last year, as part of the Indonesian and Singapore governments’ plan to establish a green electricity trading corridor between the two countries.

Trina Solar has also established Indonesia’s first integrated solar cell and module production base in support of the country’s development of the renewable energy sector. It is expected to commence operations by this year.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Trinasolar through our joint venture company Vanda RE. Driven by our mission of accelerating the energy transition across Asia, Gurīn Energy develops projects that strategically advance the renewable energy landscape in the region. The Vanda Solar and Battery Project supports Indonesia and Singapore’s efforts towards a more sustainable energy future, and this agreement is a significant step forward in realising that vision,” said Jeremy Ong, Managing Director of Operations, Gurīn Energy.

“We are proud to partner with Vanda RE on this significant project for the region. By supplying our cutting-edge modules with the potential of integrating our advanced battery energy storage solutions, we are not only supporting Vanda’s mission to provide reliable, non-intermittent clean energy but also reinforcing Singapore’s broader goal to import 4GW of low-carbon electricity by 2035. Our collaboration reflects a shared vision of accelerating renewable energy development, facilitating cross-border electricity trading, and promoting sustainable energy practices that contribute to both regional economic growth and the decarbonisation of Singapore’s energy supply,” said Elva Wang, Head of Southeast Asia, Trinasolar Asia Pacific.
