SEG Solar is a US-owned solar module manufacturer founded in 2016 and headquartered in Houston, Texas. SEG Solar is part of the Avangrid Iberdrola Group network, providing access to substantial financial resources and strategic partnership opportunities.

SEG Solar operates a strategically distributed manufacturing footprint across the United States and Indonesia, positioning itself to serve both North American and international markets.

The company has three primary manufacturing bases – facilities in Houston, Texas; Batam, Indonesia; and Central Java, Indonesia.

By the end of 2024, SEG Solar had achieved a module production capacity of over 6GW and successfully shipped more than 6GW of solar modules worldwide. The company is advancing with rapid scaling and market penetration since its founding.

Funding & Investment

Interestingly, there are no external funds taken yet by SEG Solar. The company CEO, Jim Wood, earlier informed that SEG was financed internally and has no private equity.

In June 2025, SEG Solar completed its first transaction for the sale of Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credits valued at up to USD 50 million. The transaction closed, and initial funding was received on June 6, 2025. As per the firm, these tax credits originate from SEG Solar’s 2025 module production at its Houston facility and represent participation in Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) benefits rather than traditional financing.

The company has initiated an ambitious Phase I project to construct a 5GW vertically integrated TOPCon manufacturing plant in Indonesia, spanning from ingots to modules.

A critical component of this expansion includes the construction of a 3GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in the Batang Regency, which is specifically designed to support the US solar market through a non-Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) supply chain.

Product Innovation and Portfolio

SEG Solar’s product lineup showcases advanced N-type and PERC module technology. The company’s production capabilities include sophisticated cell technology supporting 166mm, 182mm, and 210mm solar cell formats with a maximum of 20 bus bars, providing flexibility for various module designs and performance specifications.

The SIERRA N Series, recently launched by SEG Solar, represents the company’s latest technological advancement, featuring an impressive maximum output of 740W and module efficiency of 23.82 percent. This high-efficiency offering positions SEG Solar competitively in the premium module segment.

The YUKON N Series delivers advanced N-type photovoltaic modules with a maximum power output of 600W and efficiency of 23.23 percent, incorporating bifacial technology and half-cut cell design for enhanced performance. YUKON N Series comes with extended warranty options of 15-30 years for product coverage and 30-year performance warranties.

The ALPINE N Series aims for the lowest levelized cost of energy (LCOE), offering 720W maximum power output and 23.18 percent efficiency. This series combines N-type technology with bifacial capabilities, half-cut cell design, and super multi-busbar (SMBB) technology across 96, 108, and 132 cell configurations. The ALPINE N Series includes 15-30 year product warranties and a 30-year performance warranty.

The company also offers the YUKON Series, featuring 560W maximum power output and 21.68 percent efficiency with PERC technology, and the ALPINE Series with 670W maximum power and 21.57 percent efficiency.

SEG Solar is also establishing a cutting-edge Research and Development and Testing Center in the USA, equipped with over 20 advanced testing devices.

Project Portfolio

SEG Solar’s project experience spans utility-scale installations, commercial developments, and residential applications across North America, Europe, and Asia. Major utility-scale projects include a 220MW solar installation in Oregon, USA; a 60MW project in Florida, USA; and multiple additional installations ranging from 5MW to 24MW across Pennsylvania, Maine, New Jersey, and other US states.

Commercial and industrial applications include projects in Madrid, Spain; Aragón, Spain; Texas, USA; New York, USA; and Jiangsu, China. Residential installations include multiple projects in Kansas and Texas.

Global Market Presence and Partnerships

SEG Solar maintains a sophisticated global network encompassing five international sales and operations centers located in California (USA), Houston (USA), Madrid (Spain), Singapore, and manufacturing bases across the United States and Indonesia.

The company has established partnerships with over 50 financial institutions and 100 business partners worldwide, facilitating project financing, distribution, and market access across multiple continents.

Early in 2025, SEG Solar signed an exclusive distribution agreement with PT ATW Modul Manufaktur (AMM) to market and sell SEG-branded solar modules and cells across Indonesia, expanding its regional market presence in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.

Corporate Recognition and Industry Awards

SEG Solar has been recognised Top Performer by Kiwa PVEL for four consecutive years from 2022 through 2025, a distinction that recognises superior module reliability based on rigorous independent testing protocols.

Beyond reliability metrics, SEG Solar has achieved additional industry recognition, including a Silver Medal in the EcoVadis CSR rating, acknowledgement as one of the Top 10 Solar Panel Brands serving the US market by SolarReviews, and the Top Innovation Modules award from EUPD Research in 2025. The company also maintains BNEF Tier 1 status, signifying its position among the world’s leading solar manufacturers by production capacity and scale.
