TotalEnergies ENEOS has commissioned a 2.5 MWp solar rooftop installation for Leading Indonesian Shoemaker and globally renowned sportswear brand PT Bintang Indokarya Gemilang. This is a long-term partnership where TotalEnergies ENEOS will finance, install, and operate the PV system, while PT Bintang Indokarya Gemilang will pay only for the electricity produced in the first 25 years without paying a single penny upfront.

There are over 4,500 solar panels in the solar system. That produces around 3,740 MWh of renewable energy every year, which would be good for decreasing the carbon footprint of the manufacturer by around 3,030 tons of CO2 each year – that’s equivalent to planting 45,450 trees or removing 650 cars from the road.

“I am proud of the trust this key player in the aviation industry has placed in us as a partner,” said Elodie Renaud, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Pacific. “It is our pleasure to support our customer in this critical step they are taking in their decarbonization journey. Given our experience and expertise in the commercial and industrial space and intimate knowledge of manufacturing, we could create solar solutions that met very stringent safety requirements as well as sustainability goals. We look forward to continuing our long-term partnership with PT Bintang Indokarya Gemilang over the next 25 years,” she said.

This project also saves a shoe manufacturer the energy while adding to Indonesia’s push toward cleaner sources of greener energy. Investments in solar energy tie PT Bintang Indokarya Gemilang to sustainability and efforts made toward lowering environmental impact.

The technology reflects a growing trend within industries to adopt renewable energy solutions based on the requirements for cost savings and the call to reduce carbon emissions urgently. Success from such projects will find that solar energy offers very valid support to the global clean energy transition.
