Singapore-based Maxeon Solar Technologies, which delves into solar innovations and channels, has announced several product advances in its solar panel technology. In its statement, Maxeon disclosed what it called a world-record module aperture efficiency measurement of 24.7% for a full-scale Maxeon 7 panel, as confirmed by testing at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The Philippines’ Department of Energy (DoE) has published the list of eligible bidders for participation in the country’s second green energy auction round (GEA-2) which is slated for June 19 with the offering of 11,600 MW of total capacity. It has listed 118 eligible bidders that include subsidiaries and associates of Aboitiz Power, Enfinity and Solar Philippines. It is reported that the number of potential bids amount to 339, which includes Phinma Solar Energy Corporation which accounts for almost one-third of the total. Singapore-based Cleantech Solar, a provider of renewable energy solutions in Southeast Asia and India, has signed a long-term solar deal with industrial thread manufacturer, Coats Group PLC in Indonesia to develop a 540 kW rooftop solar PV project at their facility in Pasuruan, East Java. Canadian Solar Inc. has announced that its majority-owned unit, CSI Solar Co Ltd, will seek to raise CNY 6 billion (USD 845.4m/EUR 790.4m) gross in its initial public offering (IPO) in Shanghai. Acen, the Phillipines based renewable energy major that is part of the Ayala group, is set to make Australia’s largest storage battery project linked to a solar farm. The project, to come up in the New England region of New South Wales, has secured approvals to take its size to 1.4 GW (1,400MW) and 2.8 GWh, or two hours of storage. A latest report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) claimed that China would continue to withhold its globally dominant position in solar module manufacturing capacities even in 2030.
