The South Korean tech giant LG Electronics has joined RE 100 Climate group, which is  the global corporate renewable energy initiative committed to 100% renewable electricity by 2040. LG has  pledged to transition its entire operations to 100% renewable energy by 2050 with short-term targets of 60 percent by 2030 and 90 percent by 2040. Further,the company plans to expand its renewable energy sources by installing high-efficiency solar panels at its facilities. Japan-based Shizen Energy Inc., dealing in building, financing and managing renewable energy plants along with Thailand’s Constant Energy, a renewable electricity generation and storage investment platform, have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Molten (Thailand) Co. Ltd, to build a roof-mounted solar power generation facility with a capacity of 999 kWp (DC). Molten (Thailand) Co. Ltd is a local subsidiary of Japan based Molten Corporation that manufacturers sports equipment. Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) will devleop 500 MW solar plant in the Manah region of the sultanate in collaboration with South Korean group KOWEPO (Korea Western Power). As per the agreement, the Manah 1 solar power project will be developed by KOWEPO and its French partner EDFR at an investment of 600 billion won ($452 million), while Manah 2 will be built by Jinko Power from China and Sembcorp from Singapore. To develop and accelerate renewable energy in Indonesia, state electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) has collaborated with Chinese engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, China Communications Construction Dredging Co., Ltd (CCCC), in Beijing. Chinese firm Mingyang Smart Energy has tied up with Unison Ltd., a South Korean wind turbine manufacturer and wind power company in Zhongshan, Guangdong. VinFast, Vietnam’s EV manufacturer is expecting a tremendous boom in its EVs sales with an estimation of around  50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to be sold this year. Chinese wind turbine maker Mingyang Smart Energy Group Limited has announced that it has secured a 306-MW order from Singaporean renewable energy company Vena Energy for two onshore wind projects in Philippines. Mingyang said that the two onshore wind projects are the 212.5-MW Talim and 93.75-MW Sembrano. Manila-based SunAsia Energy Inc. and Singapore-based Blueleaf Energy have partnered together to invest ~$1.7 billion in the development of 1.3 gigawatt-peak floating solar projects in the Philppines. The two firms have been awarded solar energy operating contracts from the Department of Energy (DOE), Philippines. The latest report of the International Energy Agency (IEA)  has revealed that most of Southeast Asia’s energy security is at risk if it doesn’t develop more renewable power.
