Malaysian electricity utility firm, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), has issued a tender and invited bids from international as well as local contractors to show participation for an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) project of a 30MWac floating solar photovoltaic plant at Chenderoh Reservoir.

The tender closes on December 8, 2023.

The fee to be deposited for the tender is RM 10,000.00 for online payment.

The tender document mandates a tender briefing and site visit. This has been set for November 21, 2023 (Tuesday) at 10:00 a.m. It will take place at Chenderoh Hydroelectric Power Plant at 33500 Sauk, Kuala Kangsar, Perak, Malaysia.

The tender is an important opportunity for prospective contractors to engage with the project details and site specifics.

In the solar landscape, Malaysia’s potential for ground-mounted, rooftop and floating solar systems are estimated to have the largest potential with 269 GW. Hydro projects offer scope for another 16.1 GW.

The Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER), has set sights on achieving 31 percent of its energy needs by 2025 by way of renewable energy, augmenting it to 40 percent by 2035. The Government aspires to increase the capacity of renewable energy to 70% in 2050.
