In April 2025, the Department of Energy in the Philippines gave the green light to four power projects. These projects were officially endorsed to the Energy Regulatory Commission for review and approval.
Among them are diesel and solar facilities. The list includes two diesel plants run by the National Power Corporation, a new solar project by Amatera Renewable Energy Corporation, and a modular diesel facility by Isabel Ancillary Services Co. Ltd.
Another endorsed project is the Vista Alegre Solar Power Project, owned by Amatera Renewable Energy Corporation. The fourth is the Isabel Modular Diesel Power Plant, owned by Isabel Ancillary Services Co. Ltd.
So far in 2025, the DOE has issued a total of 32 Certificates of Endorsement. Out of these, 18 were for renewable energy projects and 14 were for conventional energy sources.
Among the renewable projects not widely reported is a rooftop solar installation launched in early 2025 in Tarlac. This setup was built by a small local manufacturing company with a system capacity of 150 kilowatts. The project powers most of the facility during daytime operations and has already helped lower dependency on the grid.
In Davao del Norte, a microgrid solar project is supplying electricity to a remote elementary school. The system includes a 10-kilowatt solar array and battery storage. It was completed earlier this year and is helping the school maintain consistent power for lights, fans, and educational equipment.
Also, in Occidental Mindoro, a trial wind turbine was installed in March 2025 by a small start-up firm. It delivers about 50 kilowatts and operates in combination with a solar-battery system. The hybrid model is still under testing but provides backup energy to a small community market.
The Vista Alegre Solar Power Project is expected to add more renewable capacity to the national grid once it becomes operational.
