In Seoul, South Korea, REPT BATTERO and Hyosung Heavy Industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement focuses on battery energy storage systems. Under the deal, REPT BATTERO will supply 2.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage products.
REPT BATTERO will provide battery cells, modules, and direct current (DC) containers. The company will also support Hyosung with system design and quality control. Hyosung Heavy Industries will be responsible for global marketing and regional certifications.
The 2.5GWh product supply will be rolled out through this partnership. Both firms aim to increase their share in the global energy storage market.
Hyosung Heavy Industries is based in South Korea. It is active in high-voltage power equipment and energy systems. Hyosung holds the largest share of Korea’s transformer market. In the low-voltage motor sector, it also controls around 40% of the market.
Internationally, the energy company leads the 400kV transformer market in Norway with over 80% share. with power systems across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
Several large-scale Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects have been carried out globally. Hyosung now plans to include battery energy storage systems in its portfolio. REPT BATTERO is a battery technology firm. Its energy storage batteries will be used in this joint project. Both companies will coordinate to provide the systems in overseas markets.
Beyond this deal, other projects in South Korea include the 13.5 MW Hajang 5 Wind Power Project. This is being developed by Hajang 5 Wind Power Co., Ltd., a unit of Eurus Energy. The facility is located in the Taebaek and Samcheok regions.
The Hajang 5 wind farm is expected to begin operations in 2026. It will power around 13,000 homes and reduce emissions by 20,000 tons per year. Samsu and Gowon wind farms are also in operation in the same area.
