Swedish energy and infrastructure consultancy, AFRY, has been appointed as the owner’s engineer for a 65-megawatt peak (MWp) solar project in the Philippines. The project, initiated by Amatera Renewable Energy Corporation and located in Bacolod, Negros Island, represents a significant step towards the country’s renewable energy goals. This endeavor marks AFRY’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its growing presence in the Southeast Asian market.

The role bestowed upon AFRY as the owner’s engineer is multifaceted and crucial for the project’s success. Tasked with project management, design review, and monitoring during construction and commissioning, AFRY will ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the solar photovoltaic (PV) park. Their expertise will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of the project, guaranteeing its compliance with technical standards and regulatory requirements.

The solar PV project, named Vista Alegre, holds promise for Bacolod, the capital city of Negros Island, by augmenting its energy supply with clean and sustainable electricity. With its grid connection to a local substation, the project will contribute to the region’s energy diversification efforts and reduce reliance on conventional fossil fuels. Scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of 2025, Vista Alegre signifies a significant milestone in the Philippines’ transition towards renewable energy.

AFRY’s involvement in the Vista Alegre project indicates its growing role as a key player in the global renewable energy landscape. With a track record of successful engagements in similar ventures worldwide, AFRY brings unparalleled expertise and innovation to the table. By leveraging their comprehensive services and technical know-how, AFRY is poised to facilitate the seamless execution of the project, thereby accelerating the adoption of renewable energy in the Philippines.

This appointment follows AFRY’s recent collaboration with Aboitiz Power on a 172-MWp solar project in Negros Occidental, further solidifying its position as a trusted partner in the Philippine renewable energy sector. As the world transitions towards a sustainable energy future, AFRY’s contributions underscore the importance of international cooperation and expertise in driving positive environmental change.
