On May 15, SEG Solar (“SEG”), a leading U.S. producer of photovoltaic (PV) modules, and Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (Grand Batang City), SOE’s largest industrial estate in Indonesia, held a signing ceremony to sign a land use agreement for the development and operation of a photovoltaic industrial park in the Batang Regency region, in Java, in Indonesia.

The park is expected to include plants for the production and assembly of silicon ingots, wafers, cells and modules and will become the largest photovoltaic industrial park to date in Southeast Asia. The ceremony was attended by Jun Zhuge, founder and chief operating officer of SEG, and Ngurah Wirawan, president and chief executive officer of the City of Grand Batang.

Located in the city of Grand Batang in Central Java Province, Indonesia, the SEG Indonesia PV Industrial Park project will benefit from an investment of more than US$500 million and will cover more than 40 hectares. The overall plan for the park includes a vertical integration capacity of 5 GW for silicon wafers, 5 GW for solar cells and 5 GW for modules. In the first phase of the project, SEG will build facilities with a production capacity of 5 GW for solar cells and 3 GW for modules, with a completion date expected in the second quarter of 2025.

The cells produced in this park will supply SEG’s global module plant, ensuring supply chain traceability and ensuring the reliability and stability of the supply of basic materials for the modules.

“Integrated development across the entire industrial chain is essential for SEG to meet legally compliant supply chain standards. Through upstream and downstream coordination, SEG ensures the supply of clean and traceable green products for the U.S., Europe, and Indonesian markets, facilitating the global transition to low-carbon green energy,” said Jun Zhuge, founder and COO of SEG.

SEG’s photovoltaic industrial park in Indonesia is expected to create more than 3,000 job opportunities, providing more job opportunities and economic vitality to the local community.

About SEG Solar

Founded in 2016, SEG is a leading vertically integrated photovoltaic panel manufacturer headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA, dedicated to delivering reliable and cost-effective solar modules to the utility, commercial, and residential markets. By the end of 2023, SEG had shipped more than 5 GW of solar modules globally. The company is expected to exceed a generation capacity of 5.5 GW by the end of 2024.

About the City of Grand Batang

Grand Batang City is the largest state-owned enterprise industrial estate supported by the Indonesian government and is dedicated to the national strategic project. Located on an area of 4,300 ha in Central Java, Indonesia, the city of Grand Batang offers highly competitive industrial land in Southeast Asia. The area includes industrial, housing, retail and commercial sectors and will be fully operational by the end of 2024.
